Questions About Our Electrical Services

Which of these services do most people call about first?

Repairs, by a wide margin. Something has stopped working and it needs diagnosing. Panel upgrades are the second most common, and they often start as a repair call where the real answer turns out to be that the service feeding the house has run out of capacity.

Do you take small jobs or only large ones?

Both. Replacing a single failed switch is a normal call and so is rewiring a house. Small jobs are worth grouping if you have a list, because most of the cost of a short visit is getting there rather than the work itself.

Can you handle everything in a remodel, or just part of it?

We handle the electrical scope end to end: the load calculation, the panel work if the calculation calls for it, rough-in, devices and fixtures, and the inspection. Coordinating with your builder or other trades is normal and we would rather be involved early than after the walls close.

Do you offer maintenance or safety checks rather than repairs?

Yes. A safety inspection is worth doing before buying an older home, after a storm, when an insurer asks about aluminum or knob and tube wiring, or when something simply feels wrong and you would rather know. It is a survey with a written outcome, not a sales visit.

What electrical work should I never attempt myself?

Anything inside the panel, anything involving the service entrance or the meter, and anything you would need to work on live. Replacing a like-for-like switch or fixture on a circuit you have switched off and verified as dead is within reach of a careful homeowner. Panel work is not, and it is also the work most likely to be uninsurable if it goes wrong.
